Base Completed for First of Two Towers
This week marked a major milestone for the project. From 8 p.m. Monday to about 8 a.m. Tuesday, crews worked to pour 3,200 cubic yards of concrete for the nearly two-story-tall tower pile cap. Completing this critical pile cap now allows work to begin on erecting the first of two 515-foot-tall towers. rnrnThe pour required concrete deliveries from two plants, using approximately 320 truckloads.
Workers used three concrete booms to pour all of the concrete into the massive structure. The concrete was placed into a form reinforced by a 2,240 square foot rebar structure. The huge pile cap integrates 12 underground piles drilled down to 190 feet from the surface. The concrete pour was the largest so far for the project.
