He was elected President of Shimmick Construction in 2003, CEO in 2005, and Chairman of the Board in 2010. In 2014, Paul Camaur was promoted to President. Paul continues to lead Shimmick Construction as CEO and Chairman of the Board.
As CEO and Chairman of the Board of Shimmick Construction Co., Inc. Paul Cocotis is responsible for overall company operations. He is known as an energetic and forward thinking leader whose dedication to Shimmick’s core values has guided the company from its inception to the present. Paul's leadership reflects a commitment to innovation, and the importance of maintaining a solid business foundation. His reputation for taking on increasingly challenging projects is equaled by his passion for providing a safe, diverse and family oriented work environment.
Paul joined Shimmick Construction in 1990 shortly after the company was founded. He began his career as a field engineer on the company’s second project, and progressed over the next nine years to be a Superintendent and Project Manager on several challenging projects throughout California. Paul was promoted to Vice President in 1999 and was elected President of Shimmick Construction in 2003, CEO in 2005, and Chairman of the Board in 2010.
Under Paul’s leadership, Shimmick Construction has grown significantly to a current annual volume of greater than $350 million dollars. Shimmick has an excellent reputation and is ranked #21 in the state of CA (#9 in Heavy Construction) and #165 nationally (#38 in Heavy construction). Shimmick Construction has had over $5 billion of work constructed or under contact since 1990.
Paul graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California and an Executive Director of The Beavers (Vice President), a heavy engineering construction association. In addition, Paul is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Associated General Contractors of America, and the United Contractors Association. He is active in a number of community and charitable efforts, including leading Shimmick’s efforts with the Alameda and Orange County Food Banks.
